The status of secrecy on this bunker was taken away only in 2003, when numerous peace treaties
were signed and Latvia was to become a member of NATO. This self sustained bunker could
function in autonomous mode for 3 month and house up to 200 persons in it's hayday.
The military and governmental elite of the Soviet Latvia was supposed to manage the country
from here in case of nuclear war. Among other things the visitors will see :
- unique soviet war time and civilian maps,
- tank motor powered electric station,
- special purpose rooms (radio, evesdropping, antiradiation etc.)

13.00 Short stroll around the picturesque area in vicinity of bunker.
14.00 Return journey to Riga.
14.30 En route stop at Sigulda - the winter capital of Latvia.
Visit to viewing platform of the International Bobsleigh track of Sigulda.
The bobsleigh track is one mile long, has fifteen turns and several starting positions.
Many legs of international bobsleigh, skeleton and louge competitions are held here.
17.30 Approximate arrival to Riga.
Soviet time secret facility with a cover name “Vacation Hotel”.
In the territory of the rehabilitation centre Ligatne, 9 m underground, there is a well-equipped facility with a total area of 2,000 sq.m, whose secrecy grading was removed only in 2003. Bunker was built fot the needs of political and state authority elite of the 1980-ies for state administration in case of nuclear war.

- water supply and sewerage equipment which operates in accordance with submarine principle;
- special telecommunication unit that secured direct communication with Moscow Kremlin and autonomous communication with the key services in the entire country;
- books by Marx, Lenin, Brezhnev and other Soviet times politicians;
- unique map with historic names of collective farms;
- materials of the XXII Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union;
- canteen with a typical Soviet menu;
- Various Soviet times memorabilia, household and daily items.
